Engineering Technician 1 - 2nd and 3rd shift
 

As an Engineering Process Technician specializing in injection molding, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of injection molding, extrusion and metal forming machines. Your expertise will support the engineering team in optimizing processes and ensuring high-quality production output.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Injection Molding Machine Operation and troubleshooting:
    • Operate and monitor various rubber manufacturing machines and supporting equipment.
    • Set up and adjust machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, and cycle times to ensure product quality and consistency.
    • Perform routine troubleshooting to ensure processes and machines are operating at optimal conditions.
  2. Equipment Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues affecting machine performance.
    • Maintain and repair molds, including cleaning, reconditioning, and replacing components as necessary.
  3. Troubleshooting:
    • Diagnose and resolve issues related to injection molding processes, including defects in molded parts, machine malfunctions, and process deviations.
    • Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.
    • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to address and rectify complex problems affecting production.
  4. Process Engineering Support:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements and new technologies related to injection molding.
    • Support the engineering team with the introduction of new tools, equipment, materials, and process changes.
    • Conduct trials and validate new processes to ensure they meet quality and efficiency standards.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain documentation of machine performance, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting steps.
    • Prepare and submit reports on process efficiency, equipment status, and any significant findings or changes.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with company standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Process Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of injection molding processes including mold setup, machine operation, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and understanding machine control systems (e.g., PLCs).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and ability to use manufacturing tools and industrial equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials up to [specific weight, e.g., 50 lbs].
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including [specific conditions, e.g., hot, noisy, or potentially hazardous environments].
  • Flexibility to work shifts or overtime as needed.
