Responsible to: Medical Director 

Job Summary:  

The Licensed Psychologist in the Evaluation and Treatment Center is responsible to provide evaluations and assessments, diagnose and provide comprehensive documentation. The Psychologist ensures that the highest possible quality services are provided to the clients who are treated within the center, maintaining excellent treatment and policy standards as per NYS DOH regulations. The Psychologist ensures the program offers evidenced based practices and treatment modalities required by the individuals served in the program. The Psychologist oversees the evaluation team and their process of administering and interpreting developmental tests for children and adults to identify specific learning disabilities, not limited to attention deficit (ADHD), autism, intellectual giftedness, and learning differences.

 

Essential Job Duties:

-Directly supervises the evaluation staff; approves time off request, approves timesheets and conducts performance reviews.

-Collaborates with Human Resources to Interview/Hire/Train appropriate evaluation staff to maintain a high quality and effective team.

-Effectively resolves problems related to the management of the center and/or seeks appropriate assistance from the Chief Officer, Clinical Services, Healthcare Administrator, Medical Director and/or Human Resources.

-Oversees referrals, admissions and marketing to ensure census is maintained and grows.

-Communicates with and assists the Administrator and/or Finance Office staff with any billing/payment /benefit issues and ensures adequate budget development and budget adherence.

-Oversees best use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including effective reporting, regular auditing and continuous quality improvement of documentation.

-Administers and scores assessments and tests with a high level of reliability

-Complete written summaries of test/evaluation results to be reviewed by referring clinicians and physicians

-Seek consultation for cases where validity might be impacted

-Conduct interviews and assessments and complete written summaries in a timely fashion

-Collaborate with other clinicians for testing results and recommendations

-Complete reporting of findings using the prescribed template

-Within areas of responsibility, ensure adherence to clinical and operational best practices, internal and external policies, procedures, ethical standards, laws, regulations, contract provisions, standards, accreditation requirements, and the organization's corporate compliance plan

-Assist with problem-solving to improve efficiencies within the diagnostic team

-Portray a positive attitude and maintain a patient and staff satisfaction level that limits adverse situations or complaints

-Attend trainings and programs related to this role

-Program development to include writing/submitting grant applications and/or other initiatives. 

-Provides leadership on Agency committees, as assigned.

-Complies with all federal and state regulations and agency policies pertaining to HIPAA, false claims, whistleblower policies and all others.

-Responsible for reporting and monitoring provider’s productivity weekly.

-Performs other duties and assumes other leadership responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chief Officer, Clinical Services and/or Medical Director.

Minimum Education Required:  

Graduate degree, Licensed Psychologist

 

Minimum Experience Required:   

•At least 5 years’ experience in performing cognitive and educational evaluations, scoring and interpreting results, and developing individualized recommendations to support performance in schools, in the home, and in the workplace

•Strong clinical skills in differential diagnosis and research-based treatment of language/learning abilities and disabilities in children and adolescents

•Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental differences preferred

 

 

License/Registration/ Certifications Required:

Board Certified Licensed Psychologist

NYS Driver’s License

 

Training Requirements:  

•New Hire Orientation

•Training to maintain licensure

 

Physical Requirements: 

The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions. There is a  need to be able to get on the floor to play. 

•The constant physical demands of the position are standing and walking.

•The frequent physical demands of the position are climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination, sitting.

•The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
