They play a crucial role in construction, maintenance, and repair industries, contributing significantly to the economy and infrastructure.
Hourly rate: 20.02/per hour.
Job Summary:
This employee possesses considerable experience in various trades such as carpentry, painting, and electrical, plumbing and general maintenance. Employee can work independently to complete a variety of tasks. This employee is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of agency facilities, grounds and vehicles. The Skilled Tradesman is responsible for maintaining a physically safe environment
Skilled Maintenance and Tradesman Duties and Responsibilities (all may not apply):
Electrician Duties:
• Performs as a journeyman level electrician in installation, modernization, testing, repairing and maintenance of electrical systems for buildings, grounds and equipment according to codes.
• Install, modernize, troubleshoot, repair, test, inspect and maintain wiring, circuit breakers, fuses, fixtures, lighting, outlets, switches, controls, motors, heaters, equipment.
• Demonstrates general knowledge of security and fire alarm systems.
• Demonstrates the ability to read and perform work off electrical drawings and schematics.
• Completes building inspections and work orders.
Plumbing Duties:
• Performs as a journeyman level plumber in installation, modernization, inspecting, repairing and maintenance of plumbing and heating systems for buildings and grounds according to codes.
•Install modernize, troubleshoot, inspect, repair and maintain water pipes, drainage system, heating systems, toilets, urinals, showers, tubs, sinks, water fountains, faucets, water heaters, dishwashers, garbage disposals and all other plumbing related equipment.
• Demonstrates the ability to read and perform work off blueprints and plumbing drawings.
• Completes building inspections and work orders.
Carpentry Duties:
• Performs as a journeyman level carpenter in remodeling, building, repairing, installing, and maintaining buildings and furnishings according to code.
• Remodel, build, install, repair, and maintain walls, wall coverings, paneling, drywall, plaster, ceilings, ceiling tiles, drop ceilings, ceramic tiles, moldings, doors, frames, locksets, hardware, window glass, painting, furniture, and cabinets.
• Demonstrates the ability to read and perform work of blueprints and drawings.
• Performs skilled carpentry work in a wood shop using hand and power tools.
• Completes building inspections and work orders.
Painting Duties:
• Applies protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and/or related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of building, furniture, equipment and other structures.
• Washes, scrapes, sands, torches, and/or smooths interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting, varnishing, lacquering or applying other related materials.
• Operates compressors, striping machines, sandblasters, spray equipment and other small power equipment.
• Installs repairs and maintains drywall, wall texturing and ceiling acoustic texturing.
• Applies paint, stains, surface preparatory materials and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces, as appropriate and according to Materials Safety Data Sheets ensuring compliance with hazardous materials guidelines.
• Determines appropriate color for new or replacement applications through consultation with customer.
Skills:
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical, construction, architectural finishes and general maintenance trades.
• General knowledge and experience with health care facility regulations preferred.
• Ability to interpret specifications, publications, technical manuals to perform a variety of duties in the various trades.
• Knowledge of the tools, machinery equipment, materials related to trades.

Education:
Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma
Experience:
Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years
Required License/Registration/Certification:
New York State Divers License
Physical Requirements:
• The constant physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling
• The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
• The occasional physical demand of the position is sitting.
