About This Role:

Veranex has an exciting opportunity to join our team a Director of Product Development Program Management. You will be part of a team working to improve lives globally through medical technology innovation.  The Director of Product Development Program Management provides leadership and strategic business support to product development project management staff. Oversees, manages, coordinates, and prioritizes the management of a project portfolio through project management staff.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Participates in preparation and support of new business pitches and client visits.
  • Leads new program proposals, including development strategy and budget/resource estimation based of execution strategy (appropriate to win the bid).
  • Drives, reviews and/or supports ongoing program proposals (continuations and change orders). Responsible for ensuring proposals are appropriate for winning the additional work while balancing the needs for program success and profitability.
  • Develops both short-term and long-term project management execution strategies to assure compliance and client satisfaction.
  • Oversees the design and development of wide range of medical devices – programs may include simple mechanical devices, digital only devices, as well as complex electro-mechanical medical devices and equipment (and anything in between).
  • Fosters strong client relationships at both the project and senior/executive level to promote client retention and boost prospective business opportunities.
  • Creates and maintains strong relationships between other departments and functions.
  • Awareness of challenges related to client satisfaction, program resourcing, execution, or team alignment; supports or drives action plans and resolution.
  • Supports key financial goals related to revenue generation, EBITDA, and completion of programs on site and on budget.
  • Manages and develops a team of Program Managers to ensure performance meets and/or exceeds business and personal goals and objectives.
  • Ensures Program Managers are using sound program management skills, including various forms of waterfall and agile methods and including proper planning, task scheduling, and budget tracking are performed.
  • Ensures that Program Managers are following business and QMS related processes – including timecard adherence, use of OpenAir (for program setup and closure, resourcing, work breakdown structures, program health indicator inputs), change order planning & communication, approvals of at-risk or non-billable hours, lessons learned, etc.
  • Prepares reports, status updates, escalations, and communication for leadership. Interacts with senior leadership and major stakeholders to establish strategic plans and objectives for programs and projects.
  • Develops execution strategies for programs to win bids and provide the client with the support they need; guide project teams on the strategy and client goals.
  • Supports continual improvement initiatives with respect to Veranex’s SOPs as well as our business-related processes to support use of best practices, drive efficiency, and increase collaboration and integration across sites and service lines. 
  • Supports recruiting, hiring and onboarding of new Program Managers.
  • Ensures that the appropriate on the job training and career development opportunities are made available to Program Managers (direct reports).
  • Identifies opportunities and risks related to the Program Management team in order to allow for proactive recruiting, promotion and general personnel planning (including leveraging contractor Program Managers as appropriate to bridge resource gaps).
  • Additional responsibilities include overseeing daily operational activities across departments ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in service delivery for the Orange site.

 

Qualifications

Required skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • 12+ years of relevant work experience, including 3-5 years as a functional manager
  • Knowledge of medical device industry
  • Advanced understanding of design and document controls, design verification and validation, hazard analysis techniques, regulatory approval methods
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering and software development
  • Familiarity in the design of complex medical capital equipment and disposable devices
  • Advanced knowledge of project management principles, theories and concepts
  • In-depth knowledge of company people management policies and procedures, including hiring, performance management, corrective action, and compensation administration
  • Advanced people management and mentoring skills including coaching, interviewing, and providing feedback and recognition
  • Strong leadership skills including change management, people management, strategic thinking and influencing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Advanced ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects

 

Preferred:

  • Advanced knowledge of the professional services industry and client management
