Overview: The Assistant Maintenance Manager ensures top-notch upkeep of a large college campus, maintaining everything from houses and apartments to academic buildings. Leading a skilled team, you’ll oversee repairs, improvements, and overall maintenance of the campus. We are strongly seeking candidates with a background in electrical, HVAC, and heating.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Guidance: Provide strong technical guidance to a team of skilled maintenance staff.
  • Preventive & Reactive Maintenance: Ensure timely and proactive handling of maintenance, repairs, and environmental issues.
  • Budget & Vendor Management: Oversee the maintenance budget, schedule specialized vendors, and evaluate new equipment.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Prepare reports, analyze data, and recommend improvements.
  • Campus Improvements: Assist in planning and implementing campus improvements.
  • Training & Manuals: Maintain and update operating and training manuals; ensure all technicians are trained on safety procedures.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Constantly review plant equipment operations to minimize downtime and solve problems quickly.
  • Inventory Management: Track spare parts and maintenance supplies, initiating reorders when necessary.
  • Communication: Foster good communication with maintenance staff to address issues promptly.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Safety Program: Enforce the safety program, reviewing records to uphold maximum safety standards.
  • Maintenance Program Management: Implement and manage a best-practice-based maintenance program focusing on planning, scheduling, and preventive/predictive maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Significant maintenance experience, including budget management, project planning, and overseeing a team of 10+ technicians.
  • Education: Preferred Technical Degree in Facilities Maintenance, Building Maintenance Technology, or related fields.
  • Certification: Journeyman electrician, 
  • Skills: Proficiency in computer and business software, strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Effective in training, guiding, motivating, and mentoring team members.
