EHS/Facility Manager
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS)/FACILITIES MANAGER
Main Purpose of Job:
This position is responsible for Environmental Health and safety (EHS) and support managing the facility activities for the site. The incumbent will manage and perform activities necessary to maintain the facilities and grounds to support a safe and clean working environment that meet all Viant Medical, OSHA, FDA, and IO regulations. Additionally, this position will identify and report opportunities for improvements related to EHS and facilities. Travel may be required in the future, but no more than 10%.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Follows all GMPs and SOPs as defined by Viant’s policies, practices and procedures to insure that FDA, ISO regulations, and Viant quality standards are met
- Manages maintenance, facility, and EHS personnel and activities
- Ensures that all maintenance, facility, and EHS personnel are trained to and following all GMPs and SOPs as defined by Viant’s policies, practices, and procedures to so FDA and ISO regulations, and Viant quality standards are met
- Plans and executes EHS and Facilities related onsite training as needed
- Responsible for maintaining a preventive maintenance program and ensuring that all daily, weekly, monthly, etc. scheduled work is completed accurately and in a timely manner within the confines of an annual budget, including all heating, air conditioning, as well as maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment
- Plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs
- Identifies areas for improvement in procedures and practices and offers execute updates
- When jobs are assigned, evaluate equipment, parts, supplies and available staff and assigns team members to applicable jobs according to their specific skills
- Reports any problems/concerns which may require immediate attention to Director of Operations
- Inspects entire facility for areas and objects which may need maintenance attention
- Maintains relationships including vendor quoting and coordinates vendors or outside contractors, as necessary, for repair, inspection, and maintenance of facility systems (HVAC, Fire, Alarm, etc.)
- Communicates, monitors and work with outside contractors to ensure the timely and proper completion of tasks and projects
- Coordinates and manages maintenance, facility, and security related contract services
- Manages safety program and implements and monitors health and safety activities through the development of written reports and standard operating procedures
- Acts as the main contact for local police and fire departments, alarm testing, meter testing, lawn care, snow plowing, roofing and applicable local permitting
- Acts as the main contact and responsible in overseeing and maintaining the security system
- Ensures compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations governing agencies by implementing and managing related programs at the site level and oversee training, record keeping and reporting requirements
- Maintains up to date records for all state, federal, and insurance semi-annual and annual inspections
- Conducts a hazard analysis that includes hazard detection and plans from prevention or control whenever new equipment, facilities or material are designed, purchases or used and whenever new processes are designed
- Manages and participates in the maintenance, installation, and repair of facilities and related equipment using general plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry skills and tools in a safe manner
- Maintains plan for fire evacuation and disaster response, serves as facility Emergency Response Coordinator
- Responsible for the management of the hazardous waste disposal program
- Tracks inventory, open and closed work orders and maintains facility related information
- Supports all departments in the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the facility and related equipment
- Coordinates and assists with office and furniture moves
- Develops and executes lean initiative plans facility wide
- Performs various projects which support lean initiatives
- Supports and helps coordinate training activities for lean initiatives
- Reports any problems/concerns that may need immediate attention to the Leadership Team
- Perform other assignments as required
Knowledge and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred
Job Experience:
- 2+ years of facility management experience preferred
- 3+ years of EHS experience reporting to Federal, State and Local authorities.
- ASP, CSP, CEM or related experience preferred or equivalent.
- Experience in medical device or other related industry preferred
- Knowledge of FDA QSR, ISO13485 and ISO14971 Risk Assessment preferred
- Must have in-depth working knowledge of UBC, UFC, NEC and ADA regulations / codes.

Physical Requirements:
- Moderate to significant amounts of bending, lifting, twisting and sitting.
- Moderate to significant periods of standing and walking.
- Must be willing and able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel toed shoes.
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds
